The death of Heath Ledger, a promoter of immorality

heath-ledgerYesterday I found out that a famous celebrity died and was found in his apartment. I am talking about Heath Ledger, a good actor with a bright future. The problem with Ledger was the fact that he lived in immorality and promoted immorality in some of his films. He cohabitated with his girlfriend, Michelle Williams, for starters, which we know that God is very clear on the subject of cohabitation when He says the following in His Word, “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” Sex outside of marriage is another word for fornication so the fact that Ledger has a child with his girlfriend is evidence that he was not keeping the marriage bed undefiled. Ledger also promoted immorality with his roles as a homosexual in film and television. His most famous homosexual role was “Brokeback Mountain” but he also worked as a homosexual in the television series “Sweat”. Could it be that we see the judgment that God talks about when He says that He will judge fornicators? Homosexuality is also fornication. He died at such a young age, in the prime of his life. It is interesting that God speaks in this very subject in His Word when He spoke to the children of Israel. “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I am teaching you to perform, so that you may live . . . But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you.Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.”

It is clear that those who listen to the Word of God will live and they will see their children and their grandchildren so that they can also teach them the Word of God. Maybe Ledger would still be alive today if he had not promoted immorality and lived in immorality during his lifetime. Maybe he would have been able to see his children grow up and also his grandchildren if he had not lived in cohabitation. We do not know but it makes you wonder. Let us learn from his mistake and follow after God so that we can have life and live, teaching these things to our children and grandchildren. May the Lord help us do as He desires.
