I want to write this article to help explain some very important things about sex because as I talk with more and more people both Christian and non Christian, I realize that very few people know and understand the Truth about Sex. Many people have many different opinions about sex, with whom it should be done, when, and so on. I want to look at when sex was created, by whom, and for what purpose in this first article. Since God is the Creator of all things (including sex) then we should see what He has to say on the subject. God is not silent on the topic of sexuality as some people claim. He knows how our minds and bodies work, and especially our shortcomings, so He has written much on the subject of sex to teach us. The Apostle Paul teaches us about what God has written for us when he wrote:
“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
God created man and woman to enjoy sex in the sacred institute of marriage.
In the book of Genesis (beginning or made) we encounter mankind’s creation. From the very beginning God created two distinct persons, a male person and a female person and immediately they knew that they were different.
“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
God planned sexuality from the beginning and that is manifested in the fact that He created a man, with male genitalia and a woman, with female genitalia. They were created to be able to enjoy sex. If it were not clear enough for the first man and woman that they were created to enjoy sex God went on to command them to enjoy sex.
“God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth…” (Genesis 1:28)
The sexual relationship is blessed by God and then He tells the man and woman to be fruitful and multiply, implying the sexual relationship. God goes on to say that all that He created (even sex) was very good. Now up until this point it may seem that any man and any woman can enjoy sex whenever they want, but that is not the case. As I have said, God always instructs very specifically on important aspects of live. Before sex is enjoyed by a man and a woman they must first enter into the sacred covenant of marriage.
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)
There is a clear pattern here. First they leave their father and mother (to form a distinct family) and then they are joined together (clued together) in the bond of marriage, and finally they become one flesh (sex).
What about you my friend, do you know the Truth about sex? Have you followed God’s plan for sex or have you been deceived by others? If so then there is hope and in the next article I will write about the hope that we can find even if we have made many mistakes. God bless you.
