This one is dedicated to my sweetheart on her birthday!!!

An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.

The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.

She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.

She seeks wool and flax,
and works with willing hands.

She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.

She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.

Are we “good” people???

As I was teaching the session on “Church Growth” in Warsaw, Poland, I was asked this question, “how do you share the Gospel with people who claim to be “good” people because they have never been immoral or never murdered anyone?”. How would you respond to this question? Jesus said that He did not come for those who are “well” but to those who are “sick”. As we know, all people are in need of God’s salvation, but there are 2 categories; those who understand and admit their need for God and then those who do not realize the need. Jesus dealt with both kinds. With the ones who understood their “need” for the Gospel, Continue reading

Some thoughts on divorce and Christian service

I had an interesting conversation the other day with a couple of pastors on the topic of “divorce“. Both pastors lead churches where the policy of the church is not to allow a divorced man to serve as a deacon in the church or to serve as pastor. That sounded okay at first but then it was revealed that it does not matter when the divorce took place (this is not the view of either pastor but a policy in the church constitution). I asked an obvious question, “What if the men were divorced before they were born again?”. Continue reading

What does the Bible say about alcohol?

This one is for those who like to “tip the bottle” as the saying goes. I want to write about the dangers of alcoholism. Many, many Americans like to consume alcohol. Although the Bible does not specifically say “do not drink alcohol” (it does not say “don’t smoke marijuana either, but it does say “be sober” at all times, hard to be sober when you are as high as a kite) Continue reading

Present the facts about homosexuality and you get bombed with hatred

Okay, so here is how homosexuals and their friends respond to someone with whom they do not agree. This is to be expected, if you argue with the Devil, he sends out his “clan” after you. I am not against homosexuals, I am against the sin of homosexuality because it is very dangerous to society. I have explained why in an article and these are the responses to that explanation. I will edit the foul language. You make up your own mind. Continue reading

It’s St. Patrick’s Day (Celebrate correctly)

Well, it is St. Patrick’s Day once again. Time to break out the green and eat some corned beef. I have celebrated this holiday all of my life, yet never once have I understood why. I decided to inform myself on the life of St. Patrick. While doing this I learned something fascinating. I will share what I learned in just a minute. Like most religious holidays, people remember the tradition yet forget the reason. Continue reading

God is smarter than modern doctors

I went to the doctor’s office with my two children today, to have our yearly check-up while in the States. It is very nice because we are away from the socialized medicine (for now) of Moldova. The treatment (medical and emotional) is very refreshing. You actually feel like a person. Anyway, as I was waiting for the doc to finish up with my son, I walked down the hall with my daughter. She stopped at the pamphlet board and began to hand me different pamphlets. I noticed on that caught my eye, “Circumcision: Information for parents”. Continue reading

Jesus did not condemn homosexuals, did He?

I find it interesting that there are people who can lie right to your face and be as sincere as you can imagine, in their lies. There is a reason why the Apostle Paul repeats the phrase, “do not be deceived” over and over again in his epistles. People are so easy to manipulate, unfortunately. We have a herd mentality. We will follow the pack, even if we do not know why we are following and what we are running away from. Continue reading
