Connect with God

Did you know that the God who created the universe wants to connect with YOU? To me, that is an amazing thought. Who am I in the grand scheme of things? Why would God want to connect with little ol’ me? Do you really believe this? Whether you believe it or not, it is the truth. The God who created all things wants to have a personal relationship with you!!! He says so in His Holy Word. Let’s examine two passages from the the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 5 and Deuteronomy 6.

Covenant Lesson 3: Exchanging the weapons and belt

I am preparing to teach the third lesson in our series on “covenant”. This is a crucial study for any follower of Jesus Christ. Once we understand the idea of covenant, we discover that God has His part and that we have our part to uphold, if we choose to enter into the New Covenant with God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift based on the grace of God. We receive salvation when we enter into the New Covenant. When we enter into the New Covenant, we agree to uphold our end of the bargain, or covenant, if you will. This lesson is going to focus on what our responsibilities are as covenant partners with Christ under the New Covenant. Our spiritual enemy

I am getting ready to teach during our 5th-6th grade Sunday School this Sunday and the topic of our lesson is found in Revelation 12.

This lesson reveals that we have a spiritual enemy, someone who has been active from the beginning and will continue to be active until the end. Let’s see what we can learn about him to determine what we need to do in order to have victory in this battle.

Covenant, Lesson 2: Exchanging the Old-self for the New-self

Well, it’s Monday once again and I am EXCITED because I have a small group Bible study that meets on Monday evenings. We are walking through the Precept Upon Precept course entitled “Covenant”. If I could only teach one study for the rest of my life, I would choose this one. It is so eye opening and the explanation of Christianity becomes so clear. The Old and New Testaments tie together beautifully. I get excited just thinking about it.

Last week we covered Lesson 1, learning that the idea of covenant originated with God. We also learned that there are two types of covenant, ones between God and man and ones between man and man. The covenants between man and man are always extremely conditional. The weaker comes to the stronger and sets the conditions. The benefactor is the one who sets the conditions, the weaker. The covenants between God and man are much different. In these covenants, the stronger comes to the weaker. The stronger sets the conditions for the benefit of the weaker. It only makes sense to enter into covenant with God. There are few conditions and many benefits. Yet, we tend to want to make agreements with people instead, even though there are many conditions and very few actual benefits. Many people do not want to enter into covenant with God because they do not know the Truth about who God is and what He wants.

James 4; Living faith and how you invest your time

Well folks, another Wednesday is upon us and I am teaching my staff from James 4. I love teaching through James. It is such an eye opening epistle. It challenges you to take a close look at the faith that you claim to have to see if it is living faith or dead faith. Living faith is manifested in our everyday lives, just like dead faith is manifested. God allows us to go through circumstances that reveal which faith we have.

Covenant Lesson 1

I am preparing to teach lesson 1 from the Precept Bible study entitled “Covenant“. This is one of my favorite Bible studies to teach and study with others. It is such an eye opening experience. We will discover how the three major covenants in the Bible, Abrahamic, Old, and New Covenants all fit together. By understanding the subject of covenant, the Old Testament comes alive in a way previously unseen. I am excited to begin this journey with these students and I want to share what I will be teaching here.

Kim Davis, Marriage, the Church, and the lost world

Well, I thought I would finally weigh in on the gay marriage ordeal. We are seeing the ramifications of an unjust “law” forced upon the majority of the people, based on judicial activism. Kim Davis is in the spotlight at the moment. There are 3 major reactions that people seem to have regarding this case.

Honor the power of the Word of God

I am super excited about teaching God’s Word this weekend during children’s church at Hoffmantown. This lesson focuses on the power of the Word of God and what our attitude should be toward the Word of God. Our main passage of study is Jeremiah 36. Before we get into this text, I would like for us to examine some truths from II Timothy 3:16. From this passage, we discover that the Word of God is profitable to us when we open It up and begin to explore It. The first thing that the Word of God does is, It teaches us. Everything that we do in this life is something that we must learn. Walking with God is no different. We have to learn to walk with God. His wants to teach us how to walk with Him via His Word. As we learn from God, He begins to show us our mistakes. This is not a very pleasant experience but it is a very much needed experience.

Effective Prayer

I am excited to begin a new Bible study today in the essentials of effective prayer. This class is for my preschool teachers who work for Kids’ Express, our weekly preK school that serves our church and our community.

This is our first lesson and we are going to lay the foundation for effective prayer. Have you ever met someone who prayed powerful prayers that moved God to answer time and time again? Are you one of those people? Would you like to become one of those people? This 6 week study will help with this.
