I am excited to prepare and teach this lesson during our Connect Group meeting this coming Sunday. As I have mentioned in previous posts, we are walking through the entire Bible over a three year period, from Genesis through Revelation. Last Sunday, we jumped into the book of Exodus. Genesis was amazing and I am excited to see what Exodus holds for us. We just saw how Moses answered God’s Great Calling in Exodus 3-4. This week, we are going to see how God extended that Great Calling to the children of Israel through Moses and how God extends that Great Calling to us today, through Jesus Christ. Our passages for consideration today are Exodus 7 and Exodus 12. Continue reading

Remember Christ’s Sacrifice (Exodus 12)
Once again, I am preparing to teach our Sunday School lesson at Southern Calvert Baptist Church. I am excited to begin teacher training soon because I love studying the Scriptures with others. There is great fellowship that comes with sitting around the Word of God and discovering Truth directly from the mind of God. Our church has some great Sunday School teachers and I am excited to be part of such an amazing team. As a church, we are walking through the book of Exodus. So far, we have covered the following topics:
The purpose of Communion
I am getting ready to lead my weekly staff Bible study and I want to write out the lesson here, giving me an opportunity to think through what I want to teach. Currently, we are studying the Biblical Names of God. Our current Name for God is Jehovah-jireh. Today, I am taking a break to study the topic of the Lord’s Supper. I am afraid that there is much confusion in our church today on why we take communion and what its purpose is. I would like to clarify that from the Word of God. I do not want to share what I have been “taught”, think, feel, or believe. Instead, I want to examine the Scriptures to see what God actually teaches on the subject. There are many different misconceptions today because so few actually study the topic as described in the Word. They just hear others teach on the subject and take the second hand knowledge at face value. In order to better understand this topic, take a moment to read I Corinthians 11. I included the entire chapter because the context is very important. When teaching on the Lord’s Supper, many teachers just start with verse 23. We need to see the entire context to understand what the Apostle Paul had in mind when writing about communion. Continue reading
Sermon on the Lord’s Supper
I came across this in some of my documents and thought I would share it here. It is a sermon in outline form. Continue reading
