The Scriptures lead us to Christ

jesus-bibleI am excited to spend some time this evening with our T&T kids during AWANA. They have been learning about the importance of the Word of God. Tonight, we are going to focus on how the Scriptures lead us to faith in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul explains the vital role of the Scriptures when it comes to placing our faith in Jesus Christ.

14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the Sacred Writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (II Timothy 3)

The Sacred Writings is a reference to the Holy Scriptures. Timothy’s mother and grandmother taught him the Scriptures from his early childhood. The Scriptures opened Timothy’s mind and led him to place his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This echos something very similar that Jesus told the Pharisees. Continue reading

Moses and Conservatism

There is a lot of discussion about politics going on right now because of all that has transpired in our country over the past year. Many of us have grown weary of hearing about it. I had a conversation with a guy the other day about Christians and Politics. I mentioned that I am a Conservative when it comes to politics because I am a student of the Bible and a born again Christian. Your Worldview Matters

1*rAtC3hvLBIu4TfyF3T0TXwTonight, I have the privilege of meeting with the Journey kids during our AWANA program at Southern Calvert Baptist Church. The kids are learning about worldviews during this section of their book. This week, we are going to take a look at Isaiah 44. God teaches about worldviews all throughout the Bible. All of us have a worldview, even if we do not realize it. The idea of worldview is defined as a “particular philosophy of life” a “conception of the world lived out in daily life“. A worldview is often inherited from parents and shaped by society. Even politics is impacted by worldviews. Politics is the battle for worldview application in daily life. Every single political party has a worldview. The Bible teaches us to have a worldview. The Biblical worldview is best summed up in the 10 Commandments. God shapes our worldview in the first 4 Commandments. Continue reading
